My actual motherland is Tbilisi, Georgia. Here I was born and brought up, and here I have been living up to this very day.
It might be different with you, but nearly all my life I had been haunted by a faint feeling that I was living in a totally wrong spot of the planet. Somewhere there was “the right spot” – I was assured of that – the place which would favor me with more freedom, energy, integrity and courage, where I wouldn’t be bothered by triviality and intricacies, where I would rush to fulfill my old wishes without dozing away the working afternoons.
And I did find such a place for myself and was even planning a grand removal.
How come? All that I lacked so much others succeed to find right here!
And I felt a strong desire to take a fresh look at the place where I happened to be born and where I lived – to see this place with the eyes of a newcomer; to experience that curious and amazed look noticing uniqueness and authenticity in everything, a look filled with complacency and gratitude…
And surely there is quite sweet a temptation to conduct my own “research” on the theme the mankind has written and spoken much of: how to live in joy and self-fulfillment.
The project guests are absolutely various. They have come to Georgia by schedule or by coincidence, in passing, for long or even forevermore.
Their fresh, unhackneyed vision creates something like a gateway to another reality, a possibility to pause and feel the current moment in all its suddenness and brightness. They help you feel warm gratitude for living and working here, on this land.
I am glad to share with you the stories I heard and the moments captured on film. I am waiting for your own stories from Georgian travels as well.

But it all only marked the beginning of the most interesting period. Suddenly I came to realize that all those things for the sake of which I had moved, the things that tempted and invigorated me one could find here within arm’s reach.
People arrive here, fall in love with this country and discover here that special inner freedom that gives them energies for great change; they stay here for long, some stay forever; they start here eco-production or open a hostel, take to travelling or creativity, yoga or cooking.
I saw those people resonate with simple and hearty words and deeds, get rid of their inner clips and generously shut their eyes to the local trifles of life.
