Ceramic workshop and Art-therapy in the Old City - Studio21

There is a must-see place in Tbilisi.

There is a tiny Iashvili Street in Sololaki district, which is in the Old Town. It is an ancient, unusually quiet street for the busy Tbilisi city. With old houses and Italian courtyards.

The house No. 20 has an arch leading to the courtyard. It should seem a typical for the old Tbilisi courtyard with carved balconies and high trees.

What strikes the eye most is the doors to one of the basement rooms. It is surprisingly bright and newly renovated.

The corridor with the walls built from the old red brick, as well as the whole building, leads to a large room with contrasting colors and bright accessories, decorated by the talented artist George Beburishvili.

In the middle of the room, there is a huge wooden table, at which everyone has an opportunity to become a creative artist for two hours. With brushes in your hands, you can ornament all kinds of pottery – vases, dishes and bowls. Then everything is kiln-dried and it turns into real masterpieces of your own work: accessories for the house, a gift for your family or a souvenir for tourists. Here you can find also the Art gallery, where works of modern Georgian painters are exhibited. Here you can buy rwonderful hand-made suvenirs and paintings.

For Aleksandra, the owner of studio, ceramic craft embodies the new life she started after years of successful TV career. In her art-therapy studio Aleksandra gives an opportunity of escaping from the daily routine and devoting yourself to art for anyone interested.

You can keep track of the Studio21’s schedule following their Instagram account and attend their classes by appointment.
